Success stories

World Vision Alternative Gifts started in 2000. People love it because they really value the unique gifts they can buy for their friends and family, while changing the lives of some of the world's poorest children and families.

As a result, for example, over 5,000 children have been immunised against six childhood killer diseases. Today, over 12,000 fruit trees have been planted, growing plenty of nutritious produce to eat and sell. Almost 3,000 children have had their sight restored through cataract operations.

Your response means even more good things will happen around the world. Here's how World Vision has helped communities, families and children in their fight out of poverty.

Goat educates family of five in Malawi

“My children’s education and basic needs are supported by income from goats,” says Janet Kondwani, mother of five. Janet received a billy goat from a supporter through World Vision Alternative Gifts, allowing her to breed goats to sell to cover school fees. And the milk helps to keep her youngest daughter, 7-year-old Mphatso, healthy and strong.

Sheep for a school in Senegal make whole village happy

The children at Ibrahima Nima School in Senegal are benefiting from the Alternative Gift of some sheep, donated by World Vision Supporters in the UK.
